Immanuel Veins Ted Dekker 9781595547620 Books

Emmanuel (Romanized version of Immanuel) = God with us - thank God that Mr. Dekker know this! His knowledge of the evil one is frightening to me at times. I could not read this book at night, near its end, agreeing with the lost Bishop that such evil is more powerful at night where fear becomes a weapon.

I began the book excited that I had found a Dekker novel that I hadn't already read, more than once. As it began I thought that perhaps his new genre was romance novel, picturing Toma with his white shirt half open riding his black stallion as a cover picture! Fortunately, for my interest, the action aspect followed quickly in the early battle with the "Russians" of Castille Mansion. I soon realized I was now reading a vampire story and my first reaction was "really?". It was quite a bit later before I realized the dark lord Alucard and the horrific bats of hell from the Circle series were back in this story! Once again every story my beloved story teller has ever spun ties into every other tale he has ever shared!

Bravo Mr. Dekker! Please keep writing, a little quicker if divinely possible! I just realized that I have never read "Kiss" - more romance novel writing perhaps? Guess I will need to find out, likely to find myself back in the tunnels with those dreaded worms! One request - don't ever take me back to the "House" as it took way to long to see the forces of God, light and truth arrive in that story! I remain a devoted fan! Jay Cordes

Immanuel Veins Ted Dekker 9781595547620 Books Reviews

I do not like romance novels. But I liked this one. Emmanuel's Veins is the fourteenth Dekker Book I've read and I am filled with eager anticipation to read the rest of them.

On my hardback copy there was a round sticker that told you to read the reader endorsement reviews,. on the first pages, to see how the book had changed peoples lives. After reading the book, I remain skeptical.

I gave the book to a friend to read. On the back cover of the dust jacket there was a statement that claimed "This story is for everyone, but everyone is not for this story." I think that's how it went. But anyway, I didn't know what Ted or the publisher meant. I figured i would get it after reading the story. But I still don't get it. It just sounds dumb the way it's worded. Maybe I'm dumb for missing something.

It wasn't a complex plot. In fact it was quite simple. There certainly was a lot of going back and forth between the two castles.

My favorite part was the scenes with Toma roaming through the castle in search of his friend Alec and the love of his heart. He comes upon one room where Alec and others are lounging around like junkies high on herion. The lure of the castle has a drug affect to it. The victims glorify the addictive appeal of staying there in that life style. Their choice to stay is not only because of their obsession with romance, but their addiction to their captors blood.

The connection to the Circle novels was really weak and seemed to be thrown in there merely to make a connection. It was interesting that dekker changed the biting of the neck to the biting of the inside of the lower lip. I can't decide which I like better; do I want to suck her neck or her lip? Both1
I bought the book because it was another one of Ted Dekker's, but I had reservations about reading a vampire book, but the way he tied in the Nephelim, the fallen angels in the Old Testament, and Alucard and other elements from The Circle series it portrayed ultimate evil as it is...EVIL!!! I did find it hard to read at the start but then it didn't let go until the end. I was glad I read the book!!!
I can't quite decide how to review this book. The ending had a significant meaning for me yet the story was definitely not my usual read. I'm not a fan of fiction for exactly one of the faults I found in this book. That is that FOR ME the 367 pages could have been condensed to 150 pages and nothing would have been missed. Another fault I found you might find nit-picky. The hero's horse was referred to as three different colors throughout the book. The book, set during the time of Catherine the Great in Russia used terms such as "party pooper" and "warmed over ____" ; definitely not the vernacular of the period. Even so...it was a page turner. While I don't think the book has a target group I do think the young will find it far more appealing than my generation. I guess, in summary, think "Twilight" with a Christian twist.
It's a true love story, at high speed, can't catch ur breath, roller-coaster ride. The main character is an honorable man, and has fallen in love with a girl that he has sworn an oath to protect and treat with honor. He wants dearly to fulfill his oath, but another "man", full of deceit and trickery is pulling out all the stops to win her, to possess her, to control her. Toma has to find a way to stop this, while not breaking his oath, and while not stooping to the evil deceitful ways of the adversary. The story pulls you in, and just will not let you put it down. I could not stop turning the pages on this one. I was truly endeared to Toma's breaking heart and his seemingly impossible situation. All the while, he's fallen madly in love with this girl, but has to maintain a professional relationship with her, and protect her at all costs, without breaking her heart.
