The Ashes of Pompeii Purge of Babylon Book 5 (Audible Audio Edition) Sam Sisavath Adam Danoff Road To Babylon Media LLC Books

Every War Requires Sacrifices.
The only way to survive in a post-Purge world is to keep your head down, but that's not always an option.
Still stranded in the Louisiana countryside, Will, Danny, and Gaby race against the clock to get back to their friends, but the road home is treacherous, and enemies lie in wait.
Meanwhile, Lara and the survivors at Song Island continue preparations for an inevitable attack. But what does a third-year medical student know about fending off a full-frontal assault?
As enemies close in on all sides, Will and Lara will be faced with life-and-death decisions. The lives of their friends - and possibly the future of humanity - will rest on the choices they make.
A year after the Purge, the Gates have held, the Stones have crumbled, and the Fires have burned, but now the Ashes will consume....

Well, after reading all five books in the series, I'm am officially done. Lets start off with books 1-3; they were quite good. The author writes well and there were little to no editing mistakes or errors; the plot kept me interested, but what I really liked most of all was the character development. The author was very good about drawing you into each character of the story. Unfortunately, as I moved onto book 4, I realized I wasn't enjoying it as much. My interest started to wane and I tried hard to stay on course. I mean, the writing was still decent, the plot was still pretty good and the characters, old and new, were still mostly intriguing...but the problem was the story felt like is was not progressing. By the time I reached 80% of book 4, I realized that this author is taking me for I ride that I didn't want to be on anymore. Having invested time and money into the series, I forced myself to buy book 5. I though to myself, "Sisavath has got to get somewhere after 4 books, right?" Nope, just more instances of various characters barely escaping with their lives. After about 40% in, I found myself skimming through most of the chapters until I found passages that would at least let me know a little about how a character was doing or how a particular situation panned out. This tactic barely satisfied me and I was left feeling empty by the time I finished or rather skimmed through this book. While the ending revealed a considerable development with one of the characters, I don't think it's enough for me to continue; especially considering book 6 primarily focuses on one character only with no mention of what ended up happening to everyone else. Also, there's rumor of a book 7 and according to the author's website, he doesn't know when he's going to end series. That being said, If you want to get caught up in a long, drawn-out, multiple book series, that seemingly isn't going to end anytime soon, knock yourself out. Plenty of folks love the books as they are and don't mind the slow pace. As for me, I just can't go along for the ride anymore. Let me know how it ends!!!Product details

The Ashes of Pompeii Purge of Babylon Book 5 (Audible Audio Edition) Sam Sisavath Adam Danoff Road To Babylon Media LLC Books Reviews
One awesome read. Never any doubt. Spoiler alert for those who believe in spoilers.
This one starts with Keo. A Keo who has taken over the yacht. Its an action he's done many times in the past and this time is no harder than the others.
Gage, the "Captain" of the yacht is the only one left alive after Keo shoots him in the kneecap. He's alive because he can pilot the boat. Something no one else can do. His life depends on following orders.
Lara then decides what to do with the yacht. The yacht that will be Plan D.
Everyone on Song Island knows Josh and his troops are coming to kill them all and take over the island. They know it will be tonight. Everyone has a job and everyone is in place and waiting.
Lara is still waiting for Danny and Will to get there.
Will and Danny have beaten the odds at the farmhouse and are on the way home.
Of course Will knows there will be an ambush and once he sees that ambush he heads straight for it.
Will is in the lead truck, the smaller Tacoma while Danny is driving the full size Titan with Gaby, Annie, Claire and Millie. Danny has orders from Will to not stop. Don't look back. Just keep going and get he and the others to Song Island.
Will drives straight into the roadblock and moves the vehicle enough for Danny to get through and go, go, go.
So begins one awesome read.
This one has Will, Kate, Danny, Lara, a Lara who has turned into one hell of a leader, Nate who has returned from the dead, Keo and the rest of the Song Island and farm house survivors, Josh and his Army, a Will who is taken prisoner and escapes only to land in the hands of Josh's troops once again, a very badly hurt Will, Josh and his plans to take Song Island, a Keo who tries to leave and head for Santa Maria Island and Gillian only to be thwarted by Josh's troops, the yacht and Lara's plans for it, a wounded Danny, a wounded Lara, death, destruction, a showdown between Will and Kate and one hell of a kick ass read.
I was pissed as hell with the way this book ended. Will was without doubt my favorate character. He and Danny made the story. Gaby,Nate and Keo as well. I really could care about Lara and the others. After thinking about it though I realized the author is taking the story in another direction. A direction thats going to take Will, the planner and thinker, on one hell of a roller coaster of a ride.
Will knows knowledge is power. The more you know about your enemy the more amunition you can use against him. Will will be gathering all the information he can about the ghouls and he will no doubt be using it.
Will is a special forces operator and a warrior with years of training and experience. I do believe he's going to become Mabry's worst nightmare. Oh yes.
Five Stars just ain't enough.
I really like that Sam is either very literate and/or has the perception to hire a good editor - none of those speed bumps where a misspelling or horrible grammar takes you right out of the story (if that makes me a 'grammar nazi,' so be it). I like the development of his characters. One small problem I had with this book in particular was in the attack on the island. When he went back in time 30-90 minutes to cover another character's or group's experience, I found myself skipping forward to catch up to where the first group left off. It seemed that much of that time was just a repetition. Not sure if this was in the writing or impatience on my part... Overall, I really have enjoyed these first 5 books and look forward to more!
